Yes. Losing your phone mid-round does not cost you your votes or your share, because there is nothing to claim: at settlement the voting contract pays every share in $TTS and mints the trophy straight to your wallet address. What a lost phone can cost you is access to that wallet, and the way back is whatever passkey wallet recovery option you set up before the round, because nobody at Temptation Token can restore a wallet for you.
If I lose my phone mid-round, can I still claim my prize?
The short version: there is no claim step, so a dead phone does not stop a payout. Your votes, your share and your trophy all live at your wallet address, not on your device. Passkey wallet recovery only matters for one thing, which is getting back to that address so you can see and use what landed there.
Here is how it works. Players vote by sending $TTS to the voting contract on a profile they choose. When the round closes, Chainlink VRF draws the winning profile at random, weighted by tickets. The voting contract then pays every share in $TTS, straight to the recipients’ wallets, in the settlement transaction. At the same moment it mints three TTS Round Trophy NFTs, one to the winning profile’s wallet, one to the top voter and one to the house wallet. You do not have to be online for any of that. The full sequence is in our round mechanics walkthrough.
So what does a lost phone actually cost you mid-round? Time. While you are locked out you cannot add more votes, and you cannot defend a top-voter spot if someone passes your total. Votes are final, so the ones you already cast stay put.

What is passkey wallet recovery, and which option did I pick at signup?
Passkey wallet recovery is the backup route that puts a new device in charge of your wallet when the old one is gone. Most new players picked one by accident, because the signup screen chose for them. There are three real options, and each fails in a different way.
Passkeys
A passkey replaces a password with a key pair, and the FIDO Alliance explains that you unlock it the same way you unlock your device: a fingerprint, a face, a PIN. Passkeys resist phishing and have no shared secret for anyone to steal. The catch is where the passkey is stored. Coinbase’s own smart wallet recovery page says a passkey synced through iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager or a password manager generally needs no backup. It also says some passkey methods are tied to the device and cannot be reached once that device is lost.
Social recovery and multisig
Social recovery lets people or devices you trust approve a new signer for you. Multisig means a wallet needs more than one key to act. An overview of smart wallet recovery covers both models, along with timelocked recovery and hybrids. Both spread the risk around. Both also need you to set up the other keys before anything goes wrong.
How do I recover a passkey wallet after my phone dies?
If your passkey was synced, sign in to your password manager account on a new device and the passkey comes back with it. If it was tied to the lost phone, you need the recovery phrase you made while you still had the old passkey. Without either one, you have no way back in.
Here is the real problem. Coinbase says the recovery key has to be generated while you still have the original passkey. Setting it up means signing a transaction and paying a network fee. The phrase then creates a new signer on-chain, and that signer can add a new passkey to your wallet. You cannot make the phrase after the phone is already in the river.
- Dead phone, synced passkey: log in to the same cloud or password manager on a new device and open your wallet.
- Dead phone, device-bound passkey: use your recovery phrase to add a new passkey, then remove the old one.
- Dead phone, no backup at all: the wallet and anything paid into it stay out of your reach.
What if my passkey is stuck in an account I cannot reach?
Then the account is the thing you have to recover, not the wallet. A synced passkey is only as reachable as the cloud or password manager account holding it. If you lose that login, you lose the passkey along with it.
This is the quiet failure. Picture a wiped laptop, a password manager you set up years ago, and an email address you no longer check. The passkey is safe in the vault. You just cannot open the vault. Each provider runs its own account recovery, usually through email, SMS codes or backup codes, and the wallet cannot skip that step for you.
Here is the test. Can you get into your password manager from a device you have never used, with nothing but what is in your head and your drawer? If the honest answer is no, fix that first. A wallet recovery phrase gives you a second door that does not depend on the account.
Can Temptation Token restore my wallet for me?
No. Nobody at Temptation Token can restore, reset or move a wallet for you. We do not hold your keys, your passkey or your recovery phrase, and that is the point of self-custody.
Let me explain what we do control and what we do not. The voting contract sets the split and pays it to wallet addresses. It does not know or care which phone you used. Coinbase says the same about its own product: it describes the smart wallet as one of several wallet types it offers, and the smart wallet runs on your passkey. The app shows this line for a reason: “⚠ Verify your address carefully. Transactions on Base are irreversible. Blockchain Entertainment LLC bears no responsibility for funds sent to incorrect addresses.”
So the recovery work is yours. You can still write to support@temptationtoken.io with game questions. Just know that a support ticket cannot replace a missing key. If you are still choosing a wallet, our guide to a play wallet on Base covers that first step.
What should I check before every round?
Before you cast a vote, check that you could get into your wallet from a different device today. It takes a few minutes, and the time to do it is before the round, not after something breaks.
- Find your passkey. Is it synced to a cloud or password manager, or tied to one device? Your wallet settings will tell you.
- Make a recovery phrase. If your passkey is device-bound, generate the phrase now, while the old passkey still works.
- Store the phrase offline. Write it down, keep it away from email and screenshots, and never type it into a chat.
- Test the account. Sign in to your password manager on a second device.
- Write down your address. Then you can check on-chain that settlement paid you, even before you get back in.
- Keep a little ETH on Base. Every Base transaction needs some for gas, and that includes recovery transactions.
One round, one vote, one wallet you can always reach. If you have not linked a wallet yet, start with connecting your wallet to Base.
Frequently asked questions
Does a round wait for me if I am locked out of my wallet?
No. Each round lasts one week and closes on Sunday night, US Eastern time, and on-chain its end time is Monday 04:59:00 UTC. Settlement goes ahead whether or not you can sign in, and anything you are owed is paid to your address in that transaction.

Can I move my votes to a new wallet after I lose my phone?
No. Votes are final: once placed, nobody can withdraw, reduce or move them, and they stay tied to the wallet that cast them. If you vote from a new wallet, that wallet’s total is counted separately, which matters because the top voter is the single wallet that voted the most $TTS on the winning profile.

Will I lose my trophy if I cannot get back into my wallet?
The trophy is not lost. The voting contract mints it to the wallet address at settlement, and it stays there. Without access, though, you cannot see it in an app or do anything with it. That is why recovering the address matters more than recovering the device.

Does the signup bonus come back if I start a new wallet?
Do not count on it. The one-time signup bonus is paid when a new wallet first connects in the app, and the operator caps how many it pays each day. It is meant for one new wallet, not as a replacement for one you lost, so protecting your original wallet is the better plan.

The Bottom Line
A lost phone does not take your votes, your share or your trophy. The contract pays wallet addresses, not devices. What a lost phone can take is your access, and only the recovery option you set up in advance gets that back. Self-custody means the recovery work is yours.
Here is the one thing to try today: open your wallet on a second device before you vote, then come play a round with people who check their keys. New to all of this? Start with what Temptation Token is or head to the home page. Join.
