To own your onchain following, keep your identity and your fans tied to a wallet you control, not to an app's database. Farcaster changed owners twice, and because its accounts live onchain, users kept their followers while the apps and their rules changed. Your keys carry over. An app's features and policies don't.
What does it mean to own your onchain following?
To own your onchain following, your account and your fans have to point to a wallet you hold, so no company can take the list away from you. Here is the short version. A platform audience lives in that platform’s database. An onchain following lives on a public blockchain and stays tied to your keys.
Farcaster shows the difference clearly. According to Farcaster’s own documentation, an account is “managed and secured onchain”, and a registry lets users register, transfer and recover accounts. The company running the app can change. Your registered account does not.
What happened when Farcaster changed owners?
The apps and the rules changed hands, but the accounts stayed with their wallets. When Neynar announced it was acquiring Farcaster, it said it would maintain the protocol, run the clients and operate Clanker. Later, Network School acquired it from Neynar and rebranded it.
Here is the real problem. That second deal came with new posting guidelines, and some users with older posts were moved to read-only access in the app. The app owner sets the rules inside its own app. The protocol underneath is open, so other apps can still read the same accounts and the same follows.
Two owners. Two sets of rules. One account, still sitting with the same wallet.
What carries over when an app changes owners, and what doesn't?
Your onchain identity and anything recorded onchain carries over, while app features, moderation rules and offchain extras don’t. Here is how it works in plain terms.
- Carries over: your wallet, your private keys, onchain account records, and the tokens and NFTs in your holdings.
- Does not carry over: the app’s dashboard, its feed ranking, its direct messages, its content rules, and any badge stored only on its servers.
What actually matters is where a thing is written down. If it is on the chain, any app can read it. If it is only on a company’s server, it belongs to whoever owns that company right now.
How does this work inside Temptation Token?
At Temptation Token, the things that matter to a creator or club are written onchain on Base, so they don’t depend on our app alone. Temptation Token runs on Base mainnet, chain ID 8453. Votes go to the voting contract, and the voting contract pays every share in $TTS straight to the recipients’ wallets in the settlement transaction.
Trophies work the same way. At settlement the contract mints three TTS Round Trophy NFTs: one to the winning profile’s wallet, one to the top voter and one to the house wallet. That trophy sits in your wallet, not in our database. If a club enters a profile with a registered club code, the club’s 10% share goes to the club’s wallet too. The full flow is in our round mechanics guide.
One round, one vote, one public record.
Which habits keep your fans reachable wherever you play?
Use one wallet you control as your public identity, and point every fan back to it. These are the habits I would start with today.
- Keep your own keys. A self-custody wallet means no app holds your identity. Our play wallet guide covers the setup.
- Publish your wallet address, not just a handle. Fans can follow a wallet across apps on the same chain.
- Keep more than one channel. Our Telegram channel is @temptationtoken and the community chat is @TTSCommunityChat. A second place to meet your people is cheap insurance.
- Back up your recovery details. Lose the keys and you lose the following.
What should a beginner check before tying a following to a wallet?
Check that you hold the keys, that you know which chain you are on, and that you have a little ETH on Base for gas. Every Base transaction needs it. Our guide to connecting a wallet to Base walks through it.
Then slow down on addresses. As our app warns: “⚠ Verify your address carefully. Transactions on Base are irreversible. Blockchain Entertainment LLC bears no responsibility for funds sent to incorrect addresses.”
Frequently asked questions
Can a new app owner delete my onchain account?
No. An owner can limit what you do inside its own app, but it can’t erase records on a public blockchain or take keys it never held. That is why read-only limits in one app don’t remove an account from the protocol. Other apps built on the same open protocol can still read it.

Do Temptation Token trophies stay in my wallet if I stop using the app?
Yes. Trophies are NFTs minted by the voting contract at settlement, straight to the winning profile’s wallet and the top voter’s wallet. They live onchain on Base, so you keep them in your wallet whether or not you open the app again. Any wallet that reads Base NFTs can show them.

Can a club owner keep its share if members move between apps?
A registered club’s share goes to the club’s own wallet in the settlement transaction, so the payout doesn’t depend on where members chat. Club registration is approved by the operator on request to support@temptationtoken.io. It is not self-serve, and a club code is optional when a profile is submitted.

Is $TTS an investment?
No. In the site’s own words, “$TTS is a utility token for playing the contest.” It is a game token you use to vote. We state no token price and no expected return anywhere.

Do I need to buy anything to start voting?
No purchase is needed to play. A new wallet gets a one-time signup bonus of 500 $TTS when it first connects in the app, which covers votes at the 5 $TTS minimum. The operator caps how many signup bonuses it pays each day.

The Bottom Line
Apps get sold. Rules get rewritten. A following tied to your own wallet stays yours through all of it. Here is the one thing to try: put your wallet address next to your handle everywhere you post, so your people can find you wherever you play.
Then come and play where the record is public. Open the app at app.temptationtoken.io, or write to me at jim@temptationtoken.io. Join.
